what i like about sweeneys class

Sweeney is the greatest english teacher that ive had in all my years of schooling so far. he's

great yeah sometimes he's goofy but thats what makes him simply amazing. From grammar

schmammar to clever sporcle games, to essay topics he knows what he's doing. He has truly

helped me become a better student and a better writer and i never thought in a million years

that i would love english as much as i do now. I hope in the future that all of my english teachers

are like sweeney. if i had one critique on his style of teaching i wouoldnt have a single one, he

relates to all his students no matter what and if thats not what a great teacher does then idk

what youd define as a great teacher. Thank you for everything sweeney i appreciate it!

Art Expo at RBC

Today i decided to go to the Richard Bland College Art Expo. Not gonna lie i

i enjoyed myself especially since food was provided lol you know if food is involved i will be there. I cant

pass up free food! But that besides the point the expo was extremely nice, there are some people here at

RBC that has amazing art talent. There's no doubt in my mind that the students who participated in the expo

will have no problems finding a job in art. So many unique designs and culminations were put together, for

example this one girl i forgot her name had different pieces of stained glass up in front of a white poster

board with like a flashlight and on the white poster board appeard the shape she formed the glass to! Of

course most people would have painted something or drew something but the students at the expo didnt just

make paintings. They truly made art

Wicked (beyond class 1)

For my first outside class activity i went and saw the play wicked in Richmond. I'm not

gonna lie the play was pretty dope, i never thought id like a play that much especially since

it was  a musical, i normally hate musicals. Just everything about it was cool! Pretty much

wicked is  an untold story about the wicked witches of oz and it explores the concept that the

Wicked Witch of the West, here known as Elphaba, is a misunderstood, victimized person

whose behavior was merely a reaction against a charlatan wizard's corrupt government. It

also depicts  her relationship with the preppy, popular and ambitious Galinda Upland, who

ultimately becomes Glinda the Good Witch of the North. All in all it was a good play/musical

definitely something i would recommend for others to go see. Definitely gonna go see more

plays in the future. The only thing i didnt like was the fact that it was so much money like 35

dollars a ticket is highly expensive lol i could have bought me some clothes with that money!

But nevertheless i still enjoyed myself.

Last Week

Wow I cant believe that freshman year of college is almost over!! Its truly been a great year in Sweeney's
English class. From having him for developmental and 101 has been awesome, I wish I had the same class as last semester though but this class was pretty chill as well. I just wish more people participated when we had classroom discussions way to many quiet people in my class this semester. Nevertheless it has still been a fun semester from grammar schmammar, to the class room discussions and even the library scavenger hunt I really enjoyed that very much. But something I liked that sweeney added was the discussion in the beginning of the semester about what our essays would be, that was a really great addition from last semester it gave us all choices to write about interesting things.

Last grammar schmammar

Can't believe that was the last grammar schmammar of they year! After having sweeney for english 100 and now 101 has been great, ive enjoyed everything that he has thrown my way. And i feel like he's also helped me become a better writer. Coming into my freshman year of school writing wasnt one of my stronest areas, but after having sweeney that changed. Thanks to him, im a more patient writer as well as a more conservative, i try to make my essays appeal to a audience instead of just doing an essay for the grade. I actually gert into the essay now and i have sweeney to thank for that.

Outside Class Activity 2 (college Fair)

Do you know what upsets me? Well none of you know so i'll tell you. So I went to the college fair at RBC for my second outside activity and I talked to a few colleges. Did you know that it is way easier to get into a four year university after transferring from a junior college than it is coming out of high school? Yeah if that upset you then I understand your pain. That is one hundred percent whack lol. I spoke to an admissions representative from the university of Alabama and she explained to me that all you need to transfer is a 2.0 gpa while at a junior college. I really dont understand why it's easier to go to a four year university coming out of a junior college than high school but thats kind of a plus for those at a junior it gives them a better chance of getting into the university they dreamed of. And its also great for athletes like myself. So for those who did not go, I would hope that you can make it to the next one if there is a next one.

Outside Class Activity (Softball game)

For my first outside class activity I chose to go support our Richard Bland Stateswomen and they did pretty good. Sierra had no eras, Ayanna had a sweet double play, and she stole two bases. So shout out to my best friend Ayanna. My other best friend Amberly hit a double. She cocked that bat back and nailed that ball between the two outfielders! And the crowd went wild. I never believed that I could like women softball so much. It was a great experience and it was such a pretty day and on top of all of that the stadiums food was so good. I swear that was the best burger I have ever eat in my life. But back to the experience I was with all five of my roommates and we went to the game to show support to our friends. We cheered so loud for them and got them so hype and the parents even loved us. It was a great experience!! Go Stateswomen!
