Game of Thrones

So im sitting here getting caught up on game of thrones and its a great show im already on season 2 and if anyone want to know about season 1 well heres a recap! basically Season 1 is a span of several months on a world where the seasons last for years at a time and its winter. The action begins when Lord Eddard Stark is asked by his old friend, King Robert Baratheon, to serve as the King's Hand following the death of the previous incumbent,  Jon Arryn. Lord Eddard is reluctant, but receives word  that Jon was murdered. Eddard accepts Robert's offer, planning to use his position and authority to investigate the alleged murder. Meanwhile, on the eastern continent of Essos, the exiled children of House Targaryen, which Robert destroyed to claim the throne, are plotting to return to Westeros . To this end, Viserys Targaryenarranges the marriage of his sister Daenerys to Khal Drogo, the leader of 40,000 Dothraki warriors, in return for the use of his warriors in invading Westeros. For her part, Daenerys just wants to find a safe refuge far away from King Robert's assassins and her brother's scheming ambition. And it all ends Finally on the northern-most border of the Seven Kingdoms the sworn brothers of the Night's Watch guard theWall, a 300-mile-long colossal fortification of ice which has stood for thousands of years. The Watch defends the Wall against the depredations of the lawless wildlings who live beyond, but rumour speaks of a new threat arising in the lands of perpetual winter. It was a great season everyone should start watching it!

Girlfriend

To start with i want to tell you all that i am single right now in future by chance i have a girlfriend what kind of person she would be i am going to tell you all. Sooo, drums plz….. Yeah to start with she would be at least of my height with beautiful smile and eyes(no matter what others think, at least her smile and eyes would be the most beautiful for me). She would be street smart, intelligent, understanding and caring. She would be a big zero on attitude and have a sense of respect towards her parents as well as elders. She would have to turnup!!. She would not get crazy if i forgot her b’day or something like that haha jk id never forget her bday but also someone who understands the value of money. She would not get mad when i dont say i love you one day and undestands that i love her till my life and beyond. Well, i think i am gonna remain single for a little bit longer but theres no tax on dreaming so dream onn my friends… I hope you’ll not remain single like me and enjoy your life.

Random

So i was online and something popped up and I came across Dr. Babsaheb Ambedkar. so i went on wikipedia and looked him up and His page on Wikipedia lists him as an Indian Juristpolitical leader, philosopher, thinker, anthropologist, historian, orator, prolific writer, economist, scholar, editor, a revolutionary and one of the founding fathers of independent India. He fought for his people and not once did he back down and ask himself why he was doing what he was doing. Many people think serving the society as a burden, not him. He believed that serving the people around him was his responsibility. Prejudice surprised him. As a child, he didn’t understand why it even existed. His parents played a really important role in his upbringing. Had his father not realized the importance of education, I doubt it if he would have even thought about sending his son to school. He even shifted his house to Mumbai on the advice of Bhimrao’s teacher to give him a better education at the Elphinstone High School. He managed to keep his scores and grades high despite the cruel treatment that he was meted out to by his class-mates. In a particular incident, he wasn’t allowed to write on the blackboard because his classmates thought that their lunch-boxes, which were stacked on the other side of the black board would get ‘polluted’. thats crazy lol but nevertheless heres something random i found and thought was interesting.

Confused and Stressed

like the title says lol im really stressed and confused idk if im one or the other or even if im experiencing both of them. As we all know its finals week and i have had numerous hard exams especially math. That exam was ridiculously hard, i cant believe it. But now its whatever im just kinda happy that its done and over with .I wish that in college we could sign up for whatever courses we needed for our major, why does math have to be forced upon you?. Anyway, im sad because i kinda have a bad feeling inside me like i didnt do good! i mean i studied and everything but idk man idk . its like i can feel the scolding i got from my parents for failing (yeah, parents. Well now im home waiting for the result of exam i have given up countless sleeping hours for and a lot of studying
Lets hope for the best. I have to maintain my self confidence! Ugh i hate finals week so much, everything in college is great besides this week, its like the teachers do it to us on purpose. lol but nevertheless its all good lets hope for success.

what i like about sweeneys class

Sweeney is the greatest english teacher that ive had in all my years of schooling so far. he's

great yeah sometimes he's goofy but thats what makes him simply amazing. From grammar

schmammar to clever sporcle games, to essay topics he knows what he's doing. He has truly

helped me become a better student and a better writer and i never thought in a million years

that i would love english as much as i do now. I hope in the future that all of my english teachers

are like sweeney. if i had one critique on his style of teaching i wouoldnt have a single one, he

relates to all his students no matter what and if thats not what a great teacher does then idk

what youd define as a great teacher. Thank you for everything sweeney i appreciate it!

Art Expo at RBC

Today i decided to go to the Richard Bland College Art Expo. Not gonna lie i

i enjoyed myself especially since food was provided lol you know if food is involved i will be there. I cant

pass up free food! But that besides the point the expo was extremely nice, there are some people here at

RBC that has amazing art talent. There's no doubt in my mind that the students who participated in the expo

will have no problems finding a job in art. So many unique designs and culminations were put together, for

example this one girl i forgot her name had different pieces of stained glass up in front of a white poster

board with like a flashlight and on the white poster board appeard the shape she formed the glass to! Of

course most people would have painted something or drew something but the students at the expo didnt just

make paintings. They truly made art

Wicked (beyond class 1)

For my first outside class activity i went and saw the play wicked in Richmond. I'm not

gonna lie the play was pretty dope, i never thought id like a play that much especially since

it was  a musical, i normally hate musicals. Just everything about it was cool! Pretty much

wicked is  an untold story about the wicked witches of oz and it explores the concept that the

Wicked Witch of the West, here known as Elphaba, is a misunderstood, victimized person

whose behavior was merely a reaction against a charlatan wizard's corrupt government. It

also depicts  her relationship with the preppy, popular and ambitious Galinda Upland, who

ultimately becomes Glinda the Good Witch of the North. All in all it was a good play/musical

definitely something i would recommend for others to go see. Definitely gonna go see more

plays in the future. The only thing i didnt like was the fact that it was so much money like 35

dollars a ticket is highly expensive lol i could have bought me some clothes with that money!

But nevertheless i still enjoyed myself.

Last Week

Wow I cant believe that freshman year of college is almost over!! Its truly been a great year in Sweeney's
English class. From having him for developmental and 101 has been awesome, I wish I had the same class as last semester though but this class was pretty chill as well. I just wish more people participated when we had classroom discussions way to many quiet people in my class this semester. Nevertheless it has still been a fun semester from grammar schmammar, to the class room discussions and even the library scavenger hunt I really enjoyed that very much. But something I liked that sweeney added was the discussion in the beginning of the semester about what our essays would be, that was a really great addition from last semester it gave us all choices to write about interesting things.

Last grammar schmammar

Can't believe that was the last grammar schmammar of they year! After having sweeney for english 100 and now 101 has been great, ive enjoyed everything that he has thrown my way. And i feel like he's also helped me become a better writer. Coming into my freshman year of school writing wasnt one of my stronest areas, but after having sweeney that changed. Thanks to him, im a more patient writer as well as a more conservative, i try to make my essays appeal to a audience instead of just doing an essay for the grade. I actually gert into the essay now and i have sweeney to thank for that.

Outside Class Activity 2 (college Fair)

Do you know what upsets me? Well none of you know so i'll tell you. So I went to the college fair at RBC for my second outside activity and I talked to a few colleges. Did you know that it is way easier to get into a four year university after transferring from a junior college than it is coming out of high school? Yeah if that upset you then I understand your pain. That is one hundred percent whack lol. I spoke to an admissions representative from the university of Alabama and she explained to me that all you need to transfer is a 2.0 gpa while at a junior college. I really dont understand why it's easier to go to a four year university coming out of a junior college than high school but thats kind of a plus for those at a junior it gives them a better chance of getting into the university they dreamed of. And its also great for athletes like myself. So for those who did not go, I would hope that you can make it to the next one if there is a next one.

Outside Class Activity (Softball game)

For my first outside class activity I chose to go support our Richard Bland Stateswomen and they did pretty good. Sierra had no eras, Ayanna had a sweet double play, and she stole two bases. So shout out to my best friend Ayanna. My other best friend Amberly hit a double. She cocked that bat back and nailed that ball between the two outfielders! And the crowd went wild. I never believed that I could like women softball so much. It was a great experience and it was such a pretty day and on top of all of that the stadiums food was so good. I swear that was the best burger I have ever eat in my life. But back to the experience I was with all five of my roommates and we went to the game to show support to our friends. We cheered so loud for them and got them so hype and the parents even loved us. It was a great experience!! Go Stateswomen!

Friday!!!

Hello to everyone out there reading this blog right now. It is Friday and the weekend is upon us lol. Today in English class we did grammar schmammar again and I really liked this groups presentation, they went well over ten minutes and they gave us a lot of candy. I mean who doesn't like candy? Candy makes the world go round. But seriously this grammar schmammar group was really good they touched up on the topic of further and farther. They properly explained the topic and they used multiple examples to help us further understand their topic. They went well over ten minutes which i thought was really neat. Everyone should strive to want to present the way that grammar schmammar presented.

A New Week

Its a new week here a Richard bland and boy is time flying by lol it is already week 10 here and I swear we juststarted school. But never mind that we have another paper to write.....IKR another one? But its all good I am going to write my paper and this one will be good. But we have to cite three sources!!  That is not the move, I hate writing a paper that needs to be cited that will honestly be the death of me, I need to really learn how to cite papers better than I did in High School. I wasn't in class Monday because I was sick so I might have missed him explain the paper and how cite it. Nevertheless I will write a good paper this time. Class today was pretty fun tho, we got to play taboo! That game really makes you use your brain...I honestly think I may have caught a brain cramp jk jk it wasn't that serious but I did horrible when it was my turn to read the card. I really need to step my game up when it comes to taboo.

This Week So Far

Hey everyone Jacob here lol! just in case you've missed class Monday or today. basically we have discussed articles that we were supposed to read and hopefully you all read them. And on Monday we watched a video of this guy basically telling us that we don't need a college education to get to where you want to go. He used great examples for instance he referred to Malcolm X saying "Malcolm X learned everything he needed in prison" which is very true. He also referred to Bill gates who was a college drop out and now is one of the richest men on the planet. Everything he said was spot on, you really don't need a college education to get rich because all life really is, is common sense. He explained how he busted his butt studying so much that he had brain cramps and survived on nothing but caffeine. And it was practically all for no reason because the one who harped to him that college was important was the same person who didn't even show up to his college graduation. Do I think you need a college education to get where you want in life? No i do not. College to me is just a door way to help get you in a better position to have a job. That is all it seems to me. But yes this is what we have done so far this week!

Grammar Schmammar 3

That grammar schmammer group 3 was the best ive seen so far! Everything they presented and talked about was on point. But my favorite part of course was the candy. I mean who doesn’t love candy, especially twix, starburst, and blow pops! Everyone loves them. But that wasn’t the most important part of the presentation. Their whole presentation on comma usage was excellent and I especially liked how they got everyone involved, it really felt like they were teachers teaching a class. My favorite part was how Kayla threw the joke in there. She explained the importance of commas in a comical way. Ive never seen that done before . So grammar schmammer group 3 yall did a great job!!

Presentation

Working on our presentation for Monday was not as hard as I expected it to be. Honestly I think my grammar schmammar group will be the best out of everyone’s group, okay maybe not the best but we will be something slight! This active and passive voice thing is harder than I thought it would be. It should be easy to present and everyone should be able to comprehend everything well. We will have a couple of examples for the class to participate in and have a better understanding of active and passive voice.

A little bit about myself

Hello my name is Jacob Butler, I am a freshman at Richard Bland College and I run track. I am a military brat, I was born in Panama and I moved to North Carolina when I was about two years old I lived there for four years. At the age of six I moved to Hawaii and I absolutely loved it! I stayed in Hawaii for five years. At the age of eleven I moved to California and I only stayed there for two years. And then at the age of thirteen i moved to Virginia and I have been living here going on six years. Out of all the places that I have lived my favorite was California. Shocking right? Most people ask me why my favorite place isn't Hawaii. But I have my reasons. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely loved Hawaii it was so beautiful down there, but California was just better. Going to Universal Studios, Sea World, Disneyland, and staying down in Hollywood, Los Angeles, and the Beverly Hills area is the greatest experience I have ever had. Everything happens right where I lived at. I've even seen and met celebrities!  California is honestly the greatest place in the world I miss and love it.
